How to Prepare for an Appraisal
You don't need much in order to be prepared for one of our appraisers to inspect your property. Before an inspection, the appraiser has already researched many details concerning your home. There are a few helpful things you can have prepared for when the appraiser shows up for your appointment.
Tips for the inspection:
- If you have added an addition (bonus room, enclosed patio, etc) having the building permits on hand will be most helpful to the appraiser.
- If the property is a new construction, having a set of plans accessible to the appraiser is also helpful.
- If you are getting an FHA loan there are some items that must be fixed in order to get your loan approved. Some of these include: working smoke detectors, earthquake strapped water heater, no leaking faucets, heating/air must work, no holes in the drywall, etc.
- Also make sure that all areas of the home are accessible to the appraiser.
